Where it all started...
A man named Geoff opened Geoff's on Benefit Street in Providence in the 70s as an alternative to college food. Julio purchased the successful restaurant in the 90s. He kept all the recipes and all the best ingredients the same, and eventually grew Geoff’s to three locations. In 2018, Julio decided to build a brand new, energy efficient Geoff’s which seats over 50 patrons. This new location and state of the art equipment is a testament to the success Geoff’s still is 40 years later.
The man behind the counter...
Julio was born in Portugal and moved the United States with his mother when he was 16 years old. He graduated from Shea High School and went on to the Community College of Rhode Island, earning two Associate Degrees while working third shift at a factory full time. He then went to Rhode Island College, but left to pursue a new venture of owning and operating a coffee shop on the East Side of Providence in 1996. Due to the success of the coffee shop, Julio then purchased Geoff's, with two locations at the time, in 1999. He has been growing it ever since! He is currently working on passing Geoff's on to his daughters.
